Many Faces!

Northern Chi is really one school with several locations. This means that in joining Northern Chi, you join a diverse and dynamic community of martial artists ranging from rank beginners to seasoned masters, from age 4 to Senior Citizen. Our members represent every facet of our community, each with different goals and reasons for practicing all bound by the common rule of Respect for one another and a desire to mutually support one another in their quest for personal development and excellence. No matter which Center you practice at, you enjoy the support of the entire Northern Chi community and you will have access to all our Senior Instructors through and other Northern Chi events.

Northern Chi is dedicated to the belief that Martial arts are for everyone.  At Northern Chi, we have a program that suits every goal, every need and every body!

Northern Chi Martial Arts Center was founded in 1997 by James Bouchard.  The mission of Northern Chi since it's inception continues to be…

"...to create an environment where everyone will enjoy the benefits of martial arts training."

Since 1997, Northern Chi has certified over 100 Black Belts. Our Instructors College is the most comprehensive certification program for instructors in martial arts. We have to date brought the benefits of martial arts training to thousands of present and past members in the Mid-coast and Southern Maine communities.

Programs include Kenpo Karate, AWARE! Intuitive Self-Defense Training, Internal Arts (Taiji & Qigong) and Cane Masters.  Our community programs include services for public schools including our renowned "Respect... LIVE IT!" program offered free of charge to schools in our service area. We also continue to provide the highest caliber training for area law enforcement personnel.
